Want to save money with homemade dryer sheets that are reusable? Do you ever run out of dryer sheets at the wrong time? It never fails when you’re in a hurry and need to dry something fast and there are no more sheets. Well here is the solution to this problem, make homemade and reusable dryer sheets.
They are budget friendly and easy to make. I used wash cloths, but you can also cut up hand towels into 4ths. You would however need to sew a zig-zag stitch around them to keep from fraying. These dryer sheets will save you a lot of money and are simple to make.
Items Needed
- Wash cloths or hand towels
- Fabric softener
- Plastic container (can use baby wipes container or a Dollar Tree jar)
Instructions
- In a bowl soak the wash cloths in fabric softener. Use about a cap-full per cloth.
- Squeeze out the excess softener from each cloth. Hang them up and dry completely. I used the hangers with the built in clips, however any hangers will do.
Notes: This may take some time, up to a few days. I hung mine outside to speed the drying time up. When you hang them inside they do make the house smell good like a natural room freshener. Good to remember if you have surprise guest coming over. Sit a few soaked cloths or maybe a few cotton balls on a dish hidden behind items. Remember to always keep out of reach from children and pets.
Final Word: Homemade Dryer Sheets
Each of your dryer sheets should last up to 10 times. When you notice the smell fading then it’s ready to redo a new batch. Just soak them again in the fabric softener and repeat.
Store these homemade dryer sheets in a cleaned out baby wipes container or any plastic container. This money saving idea saves you a ton and you should never run out of sheets. It’s great for the economy and your budget.
