 Final Word: Homemade Carpet Cleaner

In the end I was quite pleased with the results. For my carpet cleaner container I used an empty plastic grated cheese container. I cleaned it out well and let it get good and dry as you don’t want any moisture to remain in the bottle. I also labeled the bottle and stored out of reach from children.

You could also use a glass cheese shaker. I found them at our local Dollar Tree, the shakers that have little holes in the aluminum lid. You could go with 1/2 tbs. of cloves instead of 1 tbs that should be enough to scent it. I did have to crumble the bay leaves by hand first, then add to the blender. It helped that I had all the ingredients on hand and overall I was very happy with how it freshened up my carpets and rugs.

This homemade carpet cleaner was so simple to make. The ingredients are all from the kitchen and are all natural. Each ingredient has a part in cleaning and freshening the carpets, the baking soda helps freshen and break down dirt build up. If you add the Borax it gives it a little extra cleaning power. The bay leaves and cloves help scent the carpet and they also offer antibacterial cleaning power.
